Remember the time when you had to guess what a white and red roundel meant?  Yes, it was only 6 short years ago when the helpful textual labels appeared on Frank Pick's famous circular service mark (other than 'UNDERGROUND') although it wasn't the first time if you delve back to the 1930s of course.


Looking through these myself for the first time in a while I was surprised as, having slipped my mind, the mayoral endorsement ("MAYOR OF LONDON") actually appeared before the new roundels and 'Transport for London' tagline.  Remember 'Making London Simple' and 'Buses are getting better'?)


Also it wasn't so long ago New Johnston wasn't used for everything - body text was in Bembo in the 1980s/90s.
